Education ministry selects Optimation to replace existing STRAS solution
Optimation, has been selected by the Ministry of Education to deliver a replacement system for its School Transport Resourcing Administration System (STRAS), a major multi-million dollar software development project.
STRAS records the students that are eligible for transport assistance to get to school and the details of the contracts with the providers that deliver the transport services. In doing so, it manages $175 million of student transport payments at the Ministry each year which provides assistance for around 105,000 students.
Optimation has an excellent track record, quietly and steadfastly getting on with meeting clients delivery expectations, such as the Department of Corrections, which is one of the largest IT application outsource engagements in New Zealand.
Optimation Executive Chairman Neil Butler says the company is delighted to be engaged on a significant development project with wider benefits for the local ICT sector and the New Zealand community. “This is a major government project that demonstrates the strength of the New Zealand ICT industry,” says Butler.
“The fact that a NZ IT company is delivering to one of the key Ministries, for the greater good of New Zealand ticks all the boxes from our perspective”.
“The other thing that really pleases us about being involved in this project is that it will make a real difference for the wider community. The STRAS system is designed to help manage transport assistance for the many kids around the country who don’t find it easy to travel to school. We’re looking forward to being able to make that process more efficient and effective, so they can get to school safely.”
