Alex Bouma joins Optimation as GM Business Development
Alex Bouma has joined Optimation in the role of General Manager, Business Development. As a member of Optimation’s Senior Leadership Team, Bouma’s strengths in growing professional services businesses and developing deep client relationships will complement the existing customer-facing roles of Scott McCallum as GM Professional Services and Steve Johnson as GM Delivery.
Bouma’s role has been created to add leadership capacity and additional capability at a time of significant growth for Optimation, as the company has expanded its business in Australia and taken first steps into Asia and North America. He will be focused on driving and executing a value growth strategy for the Optimation group of companies across New Zealand and Australia. This includes building on existing long-term relationships with clients, evaluating and supporting long-range and non-BAU initiatives, and managing the incubation and growth of new ventures.
‘This is an exciting time to be at Optimation. The company’s focus on delivering sustainable, positive business outcomes has helped it nurture enduring client relationships with some of New Zealand’s leading organisations, including Vodafone, ANZ, Housing NZ, and the Department of Corrections, as well as developing new business with Australian household names like Woolworths and Suncorp. Our partnerships with companies such as Google, ThoughtWeb and SmartLogic are enabling us to bring next-generation products and services to our customers. Overall, Optimation is well-positioned to deliver high value business innovation for clients on a global scale and to build significant intellectual property within the business,’ says Bouma.
Bouma comes to Optimation from HP, where he has had a thirteen-year history in a variety of roles. Most recently, as Australia and New Zealand Global Delivery Manager he managed the Christchurch and Adelaide Application Services 'Near-Shore' Centres delivery across Australia and New Zealand. A committed Cantabrian, Alex has also served as Chair of the Canterbury Employment and Skills Board where he helped focus and drive local skills development as part of the rebuild.
